Google My Maps

A city page can download its public cameras as KML. Google My Maps imports 2,000 places per file, so a larger city is split into numbered parts.

  1. Open a city in the directory, such as Chicago or Los Angeles.
  2. Choose Download for Google My Maps. If the page lists Part 1 and Part 2, download each file.
  3. In Google My Maps, create a map, choose Import, and upload the KML file.
  4. Import the next numbered part as its own layer. Do not try to put more than 2,000 places in one layer.

The file is the same public list as that city page. It can be incomplete. Red-light cameras are included only where a city published coordinates. Obey the speed limit. Plate-reader rows that came from OpenStreetMap stay under the Open Database License, © OpenStreetMap contributors.

The download does not ask for an account or an API key. If it says to wait, the limit is a dozen files a minute from one network.
